The Brown Bottle restaurant was established in 1972 by Don and Donna Landau in
Cedar Falls, Iowa. The original menu listed only four entrees, three sandwiches, and pizza.
Similar to a good wine, the Brown Bottle has aged and improved. The menu now offers over 29
selections in the categories of pasta, seafood, meat and poultry, and classic pizza.
The Brown Bottle continues to provide quality only found in a family owned restaurant.
Current Brown Bottle locations are independently owned and operated by Don's sons and
their wives. With regards to tradition, the brothers have added their own personal touches to
each of their menus. All of the individual locations offer an exceptional, unique,
casual dining experience.
Since selling the businesses to his sons in 1987, Don has kept the title of restaurateur.
He and his wife, Sue currently own and operate diner style restaurants in Waterloo, Iowa and
Waverly, Iowa.
